The phone rang Friday afternoon it was a very sweet lady who took the time to call and let us know that our puppy pictures had been stolen and were advertised in the newspaper, on puppy find and other sites.
This upsets me so much to think families that want one of these wonderful bully babies are losing their money to these thieves.
I would like to give you a few tips on protecting yourself, if we get more diligent maybe the crooks will crawl back under the rocks the came from or and this will be the hardest for them get a JOB...so lets not make it easy on them. I have had so many people tell the their horror stories from sending deposits and the people disappearing to going to the airport to pick up their new puppy only to wait and no puppy then trying to reach the person only to find out the cell phone hs been turned off.
Here are a few rules to follow.... Remember there are honest breeders out here and yes we have websites, we advertise on different sites, we work very hard getting our puppies ready for their new homes.
# 1) Ask them to take a picture of the puppy while holding a paper with your name and the date on it written on it.
(This will let you know they have this puppy and haven't stolen the pictures)
#2) Ask them to see the registration papers on the parents
( They may not have the sire but a least on the mom.)
#3) Make sure the name on the registration papers match the name of the people you are talking to.
#4) Ask for references.
#5) ask if it is alright if you call their Vet
(I am always proud when people talk to my Vet.
Here are a few other things I watch for:
only having a cell phone number. Calling me back on a blocked number
only having yahoo, gmail, hotmail, email address that are untraceable. If they don't ask me questions to see what kind of home I will give the puppy. If they are selling multiple breeds. If they are selling an English Bulldog for 400-800 dollars. If they are selling an English Bulldog for 4000 dollars and say the pedigree was wet from a flood or any other excuse. If you see any of these signs or if you just have a funny feeling about them like something doesn't seem right...RUN don't let your heart do the talking, take your time do your home work. There are good breeders out here you just have to weed through the back yard breeders, crooks, and scammers to find us.
I hope this has helped and that you find that perfect bully puppy for your new best friend. You will love having one they are the best buddies in the world.
Take care, Pamala
